How to maintain a positive attitude in college?
It's scary and at the same time kind of exciting that college is right around the corner. Never mind, it's scary and I want to improve my attitude from here on out. High school was a learning experience for me, but in college I am well aware that I'll be on my own. While researching, I found a great advice from Ferris State University's website saying, "Use statements like...'we'll find a solution', in a daily conversation". My take on this is that my vocabulary is limited to responses or thoughts like "this isn't going to work" or "If I didn't know it, then I didn't". Including hopeful thoughts or words could help me personally now, so I don't arrive to first day in college with low self-esteem. Another advice that I found out is to, "Focus in on interesting ideas or concepts in every class you attend. Do not accept the work as drudgery or painful", in Ferris State University's website. College is going to be a long run, and I can't be crying over essays and work offered all the time. Since it is going to be a personal learning experience for me, I should be focused and have clear of what I'm working for: a college education. I shouldn't see it as more and more work. Otherwise, it won't help. I should see it as something that later on it'll pay off and that will make my life happier. That way, I won't regret going for a bachelor's degree.

A quote that helps me push through tough work is "everything is temporary". So although I may have a ton of work or tests to go through, I know it all pays off in the end with positive perseverance.
ReplyDeleteWe all endure academic hardships and face moments where we lack in motivation. The idea of college is scary and intimidating, but I like to focus on the end goal that everything will work out. I'll get my degree and I'll be able to reach my goal even if there are setbacks or obstacles that prevent me.

ReplyDeleteThis post was a very well timed post not only with college coming up, but also as we are in our senior year. I think the advice in this post should be applied to end our senior with because it will be our last chance to leave an impression on our peers. Also it is great advice to go into college with because we have to stay positive with all of these new emotions will begin to scatter our brains.
